This will not work well, if you try to escape when his arm is not stretched straight. He can follow your movement if his arm has freedom to bend. Never try to escape by pulling your hand. |

Stretch his elbow straight. It is the most inportant check point in Kotenuki. As far as his arm is straight, you can easily apply Kotenuki. When you push out your elbow, do not move the pivot but turn your wrist like cutting his thumb. |
